Marie Ducept x Rugberry: Four Sculpted Rugs
Marie Ducept x Rugberry is four large hand tufted rugs: Ondulation, Empreinte, Perle and Nuage. Each is made in one generous size, around 9x12 to 10x13 ft, and each turns the surface of the rug into the design.
In short
- The Marie Ducept x Rugberry collaboration has four rugs: Ondulation, Empreinte, Perle and Nuage.
- Ondulation and Perle are hand tufted in New Zealand wool; Empreinte and Nuage are hand tufted in New Zealand wool and silk.
- Each piece has one stock size: Ondulation 10x13 ft, Empreinte 9x12.5 ft, Perle 9.5x12.5 ft and Nuage 9x13 ft, with any size to order.
- Prices start from about ₹1.62 lakh for Nuage and run to about ₹1.9 lakh for Perle.
What is the Marie Ducept x Rugberry collection?
It is a collaboration between Rugberry and the designer Marie Ducept, made up of four statement rugs. They are quiet in colour, listed in ivory, beige and sand tones, and the interest lies in how the surface moves.

Each one is a single large piece rather than a design offered in six sizes. That makes them closer to a one-off piece than a stock rug, and they are priced like one.
How do Ondulation, Empreinte, Perle and Nuage differ?
They differ in fibre and in the shape the surface takes. This is how Rugberry describes each:

| Rug | Fibre | Surface | Size | From |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ondulation | New Zealand wool | Long, even undulations | 10x13 ft | about ₹1,75,000 |
| Empreinte | New Zealand wool and silk | A single soft impression across the field | 9x12.5 ft | about ₹1,75,000 |
| Perle | New Zealand wool | Beaded in small, even rounds | 9.5x12.5 ft | about ₹1,90,000 |
| Nuage | New Zealand wool and silk | Soft edged and drifting, closer to weather than pattern | 9x13 ft | about ₹1,62,000 |
For a room with strong daylight, choose Empreinte or Nuage, because the silk in them catches light and makes the surface change through the day. For a room lit mostly by lamps, the all wool Ondulation and Perle read their texture through shadow instead.
Why does each rug come in one size?
Each design is drawn for its proportions, so it is offered in the size it was made for. A surface of long undulations or scattered rounds is composed across the whole rug, and its rhythm depends on the length and width.

All four are still listed as customisable in any size and colour. If your room needs a different size, ask for the adjusted drawing first, because a sculpted pattern stretched by 2 ft can lose the spacing that made it work.
Which Indian rooms suit a 9x12 ft statement rug?
A rug of 108 to 130 sq ft needs a room of roughly 14x16 ft or more, so that 1.5 to 2 ft of floor shows on every side. In Indian homes that usually means a villa living room, a large flat in Mumbai or Bengaluru with a combined lounge, or a master bedroom with a seating area.

- Keep furniture light on these rugs. A sculpted surface is meant to be seen, and a large sectional hides most of it.
- Place a low coffee table, or none, so the centre of the rug stays open.
- On white marble or Italian stone floors, the ivory and sand tones sit calmly, with the texture doing the work.
Our guide to rugs for large living rooms covers the furniture layouts in detail.
A sculpted rug is read through shadow. Keep the furniture light and let the surface show.
How does a sculpted surface behave underfoot?
A sculpted surface feels soft but uneven in a pleasant way, like walking across a gently ridged lawn. Hand tufting allows the pile to be cut at different heights or shaped by hand, a technique known as carving.

That relief also needs a little extra care. Dust settles in the low channels, so vacuum slowly with a plain nozzle in the direction the forms run, and keep chair legs off the raised areas where possible.
Once a year, a professional clean is worth it for a rug at this price. Ask the cleaner to dry it flat and brush the pile back into shape, not to roll it while damp.
What does a statement rug of this kind cost?
The four pieces start from about ₹1.62 lakh to about ₹1.9 lakh, before GST. Spread over their area, that is roughly ₹1,350 to ₹1,600 per sq ft, close to a hand knotted wool rug.

What you are paying for is design and hand finishing on a large single piece. Our guide to rugs above ₹1 lakh compares this with hand knotted options.
Frequently asked questions
Are the Marie Ducept rugs hand knotted?
No. All four Marie Ducept x Rugberry rugs are hand tufted. Ondulation and Perle are in New Zealand wool, and Empreinte and Nuage are in New Zealand wool and silk.
Can I order a Marie Ducept rug in a smaller size?
Each piece is listed as customisable in any size. Because the surface is composed for its original proportions, ask to see the adjusted drawing before confirming a smaller size.
Which Marie Ducept rug suits a bedroom?
Nuage or Empreinte suit a large master bedroom, because the wool and silk give a soft sheen in morning light. They need a bedroom of about 14x16 ft or more to show floor around the rug.
