How Rug Size Changes the Price
On a Rugberry product page, price follows floor area almost exactly, so a 9x12 ft rug costs close to 2.7 times its 5x8 ft version. The size selector is the price list: choose a size and the figure shown is that whole rug, before GST.
In short
- Rugberry prices each stock size by area, so the cost per square foot stays nearly flat from 5x8 ft to 12x15 ft.
- The Cadence Wool Rug works out to about ₹1,000 per sq ft in every size, from ₹40,000 for 5x8 ft to ₹1,80,000 for 12x15 ft.
- Each step up the Rugberry size ladder adds more floor than the one before, from 14 sq ft between 5x8 and 6x9 ft to 40 sq ft between 10x14 and 12x15 ft.
- Prices on rugberry.in product pages exclude GST, which is added at checkout.
Does a rug's price go up in step with its size?
Yes. At Rugberry each stock size is priced on the yarn and hand time it takes, and both of those scale with the square feet the rug covers.

A 5x8 ft rug covers 40 sq ft. A 9x12 ft rug covers 108 sq ft, which is 2.7 times as much floor, and its listed price is close to 2.7 times higher too.
So there is no hidden discount for going big, and no penalty either. You are paying for floor, and the fibre decides the rate.
What does each Rugberry size cost?
These are the listed prices for three rugs in all six stock sizes, as shown on their product pages on 2 October 2026, before GST.

| Stock size | Area | Grain Wool Rug / Sage | Cadence Wool Rug | Cashmere Blend Rug / Salt |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5x8 ft (150x240 cm) | 40 sq ft | ₹37,000 | ₹40,000 | ₹54,000 |
| 6x9 ft (180x270 cm) | 54 sq ft | ₹51,000 | ₹54,000 | ₹73,000 |
| 8x10 ft (240x300 cm) | 80 sq ft | ₹74,000 | ₹80,000 | ₹1,08,000 |
| 9x12 ft (270x360 cm) | 108 sq ft | ₹1,02,000 | ₹1,08,000 | ₹1,46,000 |
| 10x14 ft (300x420 cm) | 140 sq ft | ₹1,29,000 | ₹1,40,000 | ₹1,89,000 |
| 12x15 ft (360x450 cm) | 180 sq ft | ₹1,67,000 | ₹1,80,000 | ₹2,43,000 |
Prices can change, so the product page on the day you buy is the final word. The pattern, though, holds across the range: double the floor and you roughly double the price.
How do I read the size selector on a product page?
The size selector on each Rugberry product page lists the stock sizes in feet with centimetres beside them, for example 8x10 ft / 240x300 cm. Choosing a size changes the price shown, and that price covers the whole rug in that size.

- Read the centimetres if your plan is metric. 240x300 cm is the stated size, so measure your floor in the same unit and skip the conversion.
- Check which way the rug will lie. An 8x10 ft rug can run either way in the room, so decide which side faces the sofa before you compare.
- Add GST yourself. The price shown leaves it out, and it is added at checkout.
The Grain Wool Rug in sage is a good one to practise on. It is handloom woven in New Zealand wool, and its six sizes run from ₹37,000 to ₹1,67,000.
How much does each step up in size add?
Each step up adds more floor than the last, so each step costs more than the one before it. On the Cadence Wool Rug, hand tufted in New Zealand wool, the steps look like this:

- 5x8 to 6x9 ft: 14 sq ft more, ₹40,000 to ₹54,000.
- 6x9 to 8x10 ft: 26 sq ft more, ₹54,000 to ₹80,000.
- 8x10 to 9x12 ft: 28 sq ft more, ₹80,000 to ₹1,08,000.
- 9x12 to 10x14 ft: 32 sq ft more, ₹1,08,000 to ₹1,40,000.
- 10x14 to 12x15 ft: 40 sq ft more, ₹1,40,000 to ₹1,80,000.
For most Indian living rooms the real decision sits between 6x9 and 8x10 ft. In a hall of around 14x18 ft, the larger rug usually lets the front legs of the sofa rest on it, so that ₹26,000 step is worth settling with a tape measure. Our living room rug size guide walks through the layouts.
There is no hidden discount for going big, and no penalty either. You pay for floor.
Is a bigger Rugberry rug better value per square foot?
No, and that is the honest answer. Divide price by area and the rate barely moves between sizes: about ₹925 to ₹945 per sq ft for the Grain Wool Rug, ₹1,000 for the Cadence Wool Rug and about ₹1,350 for the Cashmere Blend Rug.

So the rate per square foot is a fair way to compare rugs, not sizes. It shows that fibre and construction move the price far more than size does: the handloom wool and cashmere blend costs roughly 45 percent more per square foot than the handloom wool of Grain.
Where size does change value is in how the room reads. An 8x10 ft rug that holds the whole seating group makes a room feel finished in a way a 6x9 ft one often cannot, however fine its fibre.
What if my room sits between two sizes?
If neither stock size fits, most Rugberry rugs are listed with "any size to order", and a made to measure size follows the same area logic. The listed rate gives you a sensible estimate before you ask.
A 7x10 ft rug, for example, is 70 sq ft. At the Cadence rate of about ₹1,000 per sq ft that points to a figure near ₹70,000, though the quote for a custom size comes from Rugberry, not from this sum. The glossary entry on made to measure explains how it works.
How should I set a budget by size?
- Mark the rug on the floor with masking tape and live with it for a day.
- Measure the taped area and work out the square feet.
- Multiply by the rate of the fibre you want: about ₹925 for handloom wool like Grain, ₹1,000 for hand tufted wool like Cadence, ₹1,350 for the cashmere blend.
- Add GST, then compare against the rugs in the 8x10 ft collection or the size you landed on.
Frequently asked questions
Is the price on a Rugberry product page for the whole rug?
Yes. The price shown changes with the size you select and covers the full rug in that size. GST is added at checkout.

Why does a 12x15 ft rug cost more than four times a 5x8 ft one?
A 12x15 ft rug covers 180 sq ft against 40 sq ft for a 5x8 ft rug, which is 4.5 times the floor. Rugberry prices by area, so the price rises by about the same multiple.
Can I order a size that is not in the list?
Most Rugberry rugs can be made to any size, as their product pages state. Work out the area you need and use the listed rate per square foot as a rough guide before asking for a quote.
Which rug size gives the most rug for the money?
None does. Across the Rugberry range the price per square foot is nearly the same in every stock size, so choose the size the room needs and compare rugs by fibre and construction instead.
Measure first, then price the floor. Material first.
