Khaled Hashem x Rugberry: Amal, Nahda, Tomouh, Joud
Khaled Hashem x Rugberry is a collaboration of four rugs: Amal, Nahda, Tomouh and Joud. Rugberry describes each through a single form, a drawn line, an arc or a vertical rise, and each is stocked in a compact size that suits a reading corner or a passage.

What is the Khaled Hashem x Rugberry collection?
It is a set of four designer rugs made by Rugberry with the designer Khaled Hashem. The same four pieces also appear in the Rugberry Elite x Rugberry collection, so you may find them under either name on the site.
The four share a compact scale rather than one pattern. Three combine New Zealand wool with silk and one is pure silk, so all four carry some sheen, which reads well in small rooms lit by a single window.
What do the four pieces look like?
Each piece takes one form and gives it the whole rug. Here is how Rugberry describes them.

Amal
An open field broken by a single drawn line, in hand tufted New Zealand wool and silk. Listed in beige, charcoal and grey tones, 5x7 ft, from about ₹48,000.
Nahda
A single arc rising across the field, in New Zealand wool and silk. Charcoal and grey, in a long 3.5x8 ft format, from about ₹45,000.
Tomouh
A clean vertical form rising through the rug, in New Zealand wool and silk. Camel and rust tones, 5x7 ft, from about ₹42,000.
Joud
The only piece in pure silk, hand tufted, smooth and cool underfoot with a sheen that shifts in the light. 5x8 ft, from about ₹40,000.
Where does a 5x7 or 3.5x8 ft rug fit in an Indian apartment?
A 5x7 ft rug fits a reading corner, the side of a bed or the space in front of a single armchair and side table. In a typical 2BHK of 900 to 1,100 sq ft, those are the corners that a large living room rug never reaches.

- Amal or Tomouh, 5x7 ft: in front of an armchair with the chair's front legs on the rug, or along one side of a queen bed.
- Nahda, 3.5x8 ft: a passage between bedroom and bathroom, the walk past a dining table, or the long side of a bed.
- Joud, 5x8 ft: a bedroom or quiet sitting room. As a silk rug, it is not for an entrance or a dining area.
Before ordering, mask the size on the floor with painter's tape and live with it for a day. Our runner size guide helps if Nahda is going into a corridor.

How are the four pieces made?
All four are hand tufted. Yarn is worked through a backing cloth with a hand held tool, then the pile is sheared and finished.

Hand tufting suits drawn designs because the yarn can be placed exactly where the drawing goes, with crisp edges between colours. Where silk sits beside wool, the silk catches light while the wool stays matt, so the drawing reads more strongly from some angles than others.
Silk and wool also wear differently. Keep the silk rich pieces, and Joud above all, out of the path of outdoor shoes, and vacuum them gently with the beater brush switched off.
Why are some of the product images renders?
For some pieces in this collaboration, Rugberry currently shows a digital render rather than a photograph of a finished rug. A render is a drawn image of the design, accurate to layout and colour intent but not to texture or sheen.

If you are choosing between these pieces, ask for a swatch or a photograph of the yarns before you commit. Wool and silk change most between screen and floor, especially under warm LED lighting at night.
Can the pieces be made in another size or colour?
Yes. Every piece in the collaboration is listed as customisable, in any size and any colour, made to your measure. That makes it possible to lengthen Nahda for a longer passage or to scale Amal up for a living room.

A designer piece can change character when it is resized, so ask to see the adjusted drawing before the rug is made. The full set is in the Khaled Hashem x Rugberry collection.
