Article: Rugs from Rs 50,000 to 1 Lakh

Budget

Rugs from Rs 50,000 to 1 Lakh

Between ₹50,000 and ₹1,00,000 at regular price, a Rugberry rug is usually a 6x9 or 8x10 ft piece in handloom New Zealand wool, Botanical Silk or jute, or a 5x8 or 6x9 ft Cashmere Blend. In this band the size you need decides the fibre you can have, so start with the floor, then choose the material.

In short

  • At regular price, ex GST, ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000 buys most Rugberry Studio Collection rugs in 6x9 ft (₹50,000 to ₹59,000) and 8x10 ft (₹62,000 to ₹87,000).
  • The Rugberry Cashmere Blend Rug, handloom wool and cashmere at 16 mm, sits in this band at 5x8 ft (₹54,000) and 6x9 ft (₹73,000); its 8x10 ft is ₹1,08,000.
  • A 9x12 ft rug enters the band only in a few designs: the Cabra Wool & Jute Rug at ₹91,800, the Turmoil Wool Rug at ₹84,000 and the Arctic Wool Rug at ₹1,00,000.
  • Prices on rugberry.in exclude GST and were read at the time of writing; seasonal sale prices may be lower.

What does ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh buy in a Rugberry rug?

₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh buys a mid size handmade rug in New Zealand wool or jute, both Terra grade fibres, in the plant based Botanical Silk, or in a wool and cashmere blend. It is the band where most Indian living rooms and master bedrooms are furnished.

All figures here are regular prices, ex GST, read from rugberry.in at the time of writing. We use the regular price, not a sale price, so the bands stay true after a seasonal sale ends. If a sale is running, you may find the same rug below these figures.

The band starts where our ₹30,000 to ₹50,000 guide ends and stops where rugs above ₹1 lakh begin. The table below shows where each line crosses it.

Which size can you afford in which fibre?

In 6x9 ft almost every Rugberry line fits this budget; in 8x10 ft most do; in 9x12 ft only a few. Read the table by finding your size, then the fibres that sit inside ₹1,00,000.

Regular prices, ex GST, at the time of writing. The Cashmere Blend Rug's 5x8 ft is ₹54,000, also inside the band.

The pattern is plain. For a 6x9 ft rug, the whole range is open to you, and for 8x10 ft everything except the Cashmere Blend fits.

For 9x12 ft, Cabra, Turmoil and Arctic are the only rugs that stay at or under ₹1,00,000. The Turmoil Wool Rug is hand tufted New Zealand wool at 14 to 16 mm, and the Arctic is the same construction, pale with black marks.

Is the Cashmere Blend worth it at this budget?

The Cashmere Blend is worth it when the rug is small and touched often, such as a 5x8 ft beside a bed or a 6x9 ft in a family room where people sit on the floor. In a large living room, the same money buys a bigger rug in New Zealand wool.

The Cashmere Blend Rug in Salt is handloom woven in a wool and cashmere blend at 16 mm, fine, dense and very soft underfoot. Natural and Taupe sit at the same prices. Read the line in full in our Cashmere Blend collection guide.

For a bedroom where bare feet meet the rug every morning, choose the Cashmere Blend at 6x9 ft over Plush at 8x10 ft, because the fibre matters more than the extra 26 sq ft. For a living room where the rug must hold a sofa and two chairs, choose Plush or Grain at 8x10 ft, because a rug that is too small spoils the room at any fibre.

Wool, Botanical Silk or jute: which suits an Indian home in this band?

New Zealand wool suits most Indian rooms, Botanical Silk suits quiet rooms with little foot traffic, and jute suits rooms that want texture and firmness. All three cost about the same in 6x9 and 8x10 ft, so choose on use, not price.

New Zealand wool: Grain, Plush, Ombré

Wool springs back, hides dust in a textured surface and stays comfortable through a Delhi winter and a Chennai summer. Grain at 12 to 14 mm is the practical choice for a busy living room; Plush at 18 to 20 mm is the soft one for a bedroom or a den. The premium rugs collection gathers the higher grades.

Botanical Silk: Nuva and Luma

The Nuva Silk Rug in Camel is handloom woven in Botanical Silk at 10 mm, cool underfoot with a sheen that moves with the light. Botanical Silk is a plant based fibre with a silk-like sheen; it marks more easily than wool, so keep it out of the dining room. See wool versus Botanical Silk.

Jute: Savannah

Savannah is hand knotted jute at 15 to 16 mm, firm and textured, and it is the only hand knotted Studio Collection line. Jute dislikes water, so it belongs in a dry living room rather than near a balcony door in monsoon.

Which rugs sit just outside the band, on either side?

Just below the band sits the Cabra Wool & Jute Rug at ₹45,900 for 6x9 ft; just above it sit the 9x12 ft Studio Collection rugs and two single size pieces, the Estra and the Ithaca. Knowing the edges helps you decide whether to stretch or to save.

  • Estra Wool & Silk Rug, 8x10 ft, ₹72,000: hand tufted New Zealand wool and Botanical Silk at 14 to 16 mm, drawn in fine parallel strokes. Listed in one size, inside the band.
  • Ithaca Rug, 8x10 ft, ₹1,15,500: hand knotted New Zealand wool, dense and fine. It sits just above ₹1 lakh at regular price, and it is the step into hand knotted wool.
  • Grain at 9x12 ft, ₹1,02,000: two thousand rupees over the line, and the size many living rooms in a 3BHK actually need.

In this band, buy the size the room needs first. A smaller rug in a finer fibre rarely fixes a room.

If 9x12 ft is right for your room and the budget is fixed at ₹1 lakh, the Cabra at ₹91,800 is the honest answer. Its low 7 to 8 mm handloom weave of wool and jute takes traffic well. Our rug price by size guide explains why price climbs faster than area.

How should you spend the last ₹10,000 in this band?

Spend the last ₹10,000 on size before finish: going from 6x9 to 8x10 ft adds 26 sq ft of floor, which changes a room far more than a step up in fibre. If the size is already right, spend it on an underlay and a swatch.

  1. Check the size with tape. Mark 8x10 ft on the floor. The front legs of every seat should sit on the tape.
  2. Order a swatch before a large order. Swatches are ₹800 each in the swatch range, and colour in your own daylight is the safest check at this price.
  3. Add an underlay. A rug underlay keeps a rug flat on marble and vitrified tile.
  4. Ask about made to measure. If your room needs 7x10 ft, a made to measure size may cost less than the next standard size up.

How does this band look room by room in an Indian home?

Room by room, ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh usually furnishes one principal room well: an 8x10 ft living room rug, a master bedroom rug under a king bed, or a dining rug for six in a lower pile. It rarely furnishes two large rooms at once, so decide which room carries the budget.

Living room in a 3BHK

A three seater sofa, two chairs and a coffee table want 8x10 ft. Grain at ₹74,000 or Plush at ₹79,000 sit comfortably in the band, and the choice between them is pile: 12 to 14 mm for a room with traffic, 18 to 20 mm for a room where people sit on the floor.

Master bedroom

An 8x10 ft rug laid across a king bed shows about 2 ft each side. Plush in Ivory or Camel, or Luma in Botanical Silk for a quiet room with little traffic, both land at ₹79,000 at regular price. A 6x9 ft Cashmere Blend at ₹73,000 suits a queen bed.

Dining room

Chairs need a low, firm surface. The Cabra Wool & Jute Rug at 7 to 8 mm is the dining room rug in this band: ₹68,000 for 8x10 ft and ₹91,800 for 9x12 ft, the size a six seat table needs. Our dining room rug guide gives the clearances.

Frequently asked questions

What size rug can I buy for ₹1 lakh in India?

At regular price, ex GST, ₹1 lakh buys most Rugberry Studio Collection rugs in 8x10 ft and a few in 9x12 ft, including the Cabra Wool & Jute Rug at ₹91,800 and the Arctic Wool Rug at ₹1,00,000. The Cashmere Blend Rug fits the budget only up to 6x9 ft.

Is a ₹75,000 rug worth it?

A ₹75,000 Rugberry rug is typically an 8x10 ft handloom New Zealand wool rug such as the Grain at ₹74,000, made by hand and listed with its fibre, construction and pile height. Handloom wool holds its shape for many years with regular vacuuming, which is where the value lies.

Which is softer, Plush or the Cashmere Blend?

The Plush Wool Rug is deeper, at 18 to 20 mm of handloom New Zealand wool, while the Cashmere Blend Rug is finer and denser at 16 mm in a wool and cashmere blend. Plush feels deep; the Cashmere Blend feels fine and very soft to the hand.

Are these prices before or after GST?

Every price in this guide is ex GST, as on rugberry.in. GST is added at checkout and each order comes with a GST invoice, and delivery anywhere in India costs nothing extra.

Will these prices change?

Prices were read from the product pages at the time of writing and can change. During a seasonal sale the product page may show a lower price than the regular price quoted here, so always check the page before ordering.
