Mayhem, Infamous and Crinkle: Wool and Botanical Silk
Mayhem, Infamous and Crinkle are hand tufted rugs that mix New Zealand wool with Botanical Silk, each to a different end. Mayhem breaks an ivory field with a grey crackle, Infamous lays soft planes of colour inside a shaped outline, and Crinkle creases a sand surface like worked paper.
In short
- The Mayhem Wool & Silk Rug is hand tufted New Zealand wool and Botanical Silk with a grey crackle of marks across an ivory field, from ₹44,000 for 5x8 ft at regular price, ex GST at the time of writing.
- The Infamous Wool & Silk Rug is a shaped rug with an irregular outline, carrying large soft planes of ivory, peach sand, rust and deep blue.
- The Crinkle Wool & Silk Rug is also shaped, with fine ivory ripple lines running across a sand field so the surface looks creased.
- Rugberry rates all three as Moderate for durability, so they suit living rooms and bedrooms with gentle use rather than an entrance or a room shared with pets.
What do Mayhem, Infamous and Crinkle share?
They share a blend of New Zealand wool and Botanical Silk, hand tufted at a pile of 14 to 16 mm. The wool gives body and spring; the Botanical Silk adds a low sheen that shifts as you cross the room.
They also share an energy that sets them apart from quieter Rugberry rugs. Each is built on movement: marks that break, planes that overlap, or lines that ripple.
Two of the three, Infamous and Crinkle, step away from the rectangle altogether. Their outlines follow the drawing, which changes how they sit in a room as much as their colour does.
How does the Mayhem Wool & Silk Rug use Botanical Silk?
The Mayhem Wool & Silk Rug uses Botanical Silk for its grey marks, which crack and branch across an ivory wool field like dried glaze or old plaster. The marks catch light differently from the matt wool around them, so the pattern brightens or deepens as you move.

The palette is narrow, only ivory and grey, which keeps an energetic drawing calm enough for daily living. From a doorway Mayhem reads as a soft grey texture; standing over it, you see each mark break and rejoin.
Mayhem is a standard rectangle in six sizes. The Mayhem Wool & Silk Rug costs ₹44,000 for 5x8 ft, ₹59,000 for 6x9 ft and ₹87,000 for 8x10 ft at regular price, ex GST at the time of writing.
It sits well on white marble and pale grey vitrified tile, where its grey picks up the veining or the cool tone of the floor. In a room of grey sofas and white walls, it adds movement without adding a new colour.
Why is the Infamous Wool & Silk Rug shaped?
The Infamous Wool & Silk Rug is shaped because its outline follows its composition: large, soft planes of ivory and peach sand, with a rust shape and a deep blue shape set into them. A rectangle would cut the planes off; an irregular edge lets them end where they want to.

This makes Infamous closer to a piece of art on the floor than a background. It works where the floor is open around it, so the edge can be seen, such as in front of a fireplace wall, beside a reading chair or in a large bedroom at the foot of the bed.
Infamous is listed in six sizes, priced at ₹43,000 for 5x8 ft, ₹58,000 for 6x9 ft and ₹85,000 for 8x10 ft at regular price, ex GST at the time of writing. See the Infamous Wool & Silk Rug for the larger sizes.
A shaped rug changes the rules of placement. Our guide to shaped and irregular rugs covers how much floor to leave around the outline and how to plan furniture near an uneven edge.
What makes the Crinkle Wool & Silk Rug look creased?
The Crinkle Wool & Silk Rug looks creased because fine ivory lines ripple across its sand field in close, shifting waves, the way folds gather in paper that has been crushed and smoothed. The lines bunch together in places and open out in others, so the surface seems to rise and fall.

Like Infamous, Crinkle has an irregular outline, here with soft wavy edges that echo the ripples. On the floor it reads as a single textured form rather than a pattern framed by a border.
Mayhem breaks the surface, Infamous divides it, Crinkle folds it.
The sand ground is warm and close to the colour of teak, oak and beige vitrified tile, so Crinkle settles easily into most Indian homes. The Crinkle Wool & Silk Rug costs ₹40,000 for 5x8 ft, ₹53,000 for 6x9 ft and ₹79,000 for 8x10 ft at regular price, ex GST at the time of writing.
How do the three compare?
They compare most clearly on outline, palette and how strongly each draws the eye. Mayhem is the calmest and most practical, Infamous is the boldest, and Crinkle sits between them as a warm, textured form.
| Rug | Outline | Palette | Character | 5x8 ft, regular, ex GST |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mayhem Wool & Silk Rug | Rectangle | Ivory and grey | Crackle of marks, cool and even | ₹44,000 |
| Infamous Wool & Silk Rug | Shaped | Ivory, peach sand, rust, deep blue | Soft colour planes, a focal piece | ₹43,000 |
| Crinkle Wool & Silk Rug | Shaped | Sand and ivory | Creased ripple lines, warm texture | ₹40,000 |
For a living room that needs a rug under a full seating group, choose Mayhem over Infamous or Crinkle, because a rectangle holds sofa and chair legs evenly while a shaped outline is best left visible.
These rugs are different in intent from the Velocity, Lyra and Trickle group, which draw Botanical Silk lines across wool fields. Our post on Velocity, Lyra and Trickle covers that line led approach.
Where does Botanical Silk sheen work, and where does it wear?
Botanical Silk sheen works best where light falls across the rug at a low angle and where feet pass gently. It shows most in a living room with side windows or warm evening lamps, and least under flat overhead light.

It wears fastest where there is grit, heavy traffic or claws. Rugberry rates Mayhem, Infamous and Crinkle as Moderate for durability, and its product data marks Infamous and Crinkle as not pet friendly, so keep all three away from the front door, the path to the kitchen and rooms where a dog or cat sleeps.
In practice, that means a formal living room, a bedroom or a study rather than a family room used from morning to night. Our article on whether Botanical Silk is durable enough for a living room goes deeper, and wool vs Botanical Silk compares the fibres room by room.
Light also changes how these rugs look from hour to hour. The guide to how lighting changes a rug explains why a sheen rug can look a shade darker from one side of the room.
A simple test before you choose a spot: lay the rug, then walk round it once at 10 in the morning and once at 8 in the evening under your usual lamps. The side where the Botanical Silk glows most is the side to face the sofa.
How much floor should show around a shaped rug?
A shaped rug needs more bare floor around it than a rectangle, because its outline is part of the design. Leave at least 18 to 24 inches of floor on every side of Infamous or Crinkle, so the edge reads as a deliberate shape and not as a rug pushed into a corner.
In practice, that means choosing a size one step smaller than you would for a rectangular rug in the same spot. In a 12x14 ft bedroom, a 6x9 ft Crinkle at the foot of the bed, with its waves visible on three sides, often looks better than an 8x10 ft piece crowded against the bedside tables.
Shaped rugs also suit floors that are themselves interesting. On polished white marble, Infamous's colour planes read like an inlay; on a herringbone wood floor, Crinkle's soft outline breaks the strong pattern of the planks.
Avoid placing a shaped rug where a door must swing over it or where chairs pull out across its edge. An irregular outline catches a door or a chair leg more easily than a straight one, and the edge is where Botanical Silk shows wear first.
Mayhem, as a rectangle, follows the usual rules instead: front legs of the sofa on the rug, and a border of floor of 12 to 18 inches at the walls.
How should you care for wool and Botanical Silk rugs in India?
Care for wool and Botanical Silk rugs in India with dry methods: regular vacuuming on a suction setting, immediate blotting of spills and professional cleaning only, which is Rugberry's guidance for all three. Avoid home shampoo and water, which can mark the Botanical Silk areas.
Dust is the daily concern, especially in the dry months before the monsoon. Vacuum two or three times a week, moving with the pile, and shake out a shaped rug only by lifting it carefully rather than beating it.
During the monsoon, keep these rugs on fully dry floors and in rooms with some air movement. Turn them every few months so the sheen fades evenly where sun reaches the floor.
Frequently asked questions
Can a shaped rug like Infamous go under a coffee table?
It can, but part of its outline and colour planes will be hidden. A shaped rug looks best with a light table on slim legs, or with furniture placed around rather than on top of it.
Why do Botanical Silk rugs look lighter from one side?
Botanical Silk fibres reflect light along the direction the pile leans. Walking towards the pile shows a deeper tone, and walking with it shows a paler, brighter one, which is normal and not a fault.
Which of the three is easiest to live with daily?
Mayhem is the easiest, because its ivory and grey crackle hides light marks and its rectangle sits under furniture in the usual way. It is still a Moderate durability rug, so a quieter room is best.
Are Infamous and Crinkle suitable for a home with a dog?
Rugberry's product data marks both as not pet friendly. Claws can catch the Botanical Silk and loosen the surface, so a hard wearing wool rug is the better choice where pets roam freely.
Can I order Crinkle as a rectangle?
Every rug in this group is customisable, with any size made to measure and custom colours on request. Ask Rugberry about outline as well, since a rectangle would change how the ripple lines meet the edge.
