Velocity, Lyra and Trickle: Wool Drawn in Botanical Silk
Velocity, Lyra and Trickle are three Rugberry rugs hand tufted in New Zealand wool and Botanical Silk, and each is drawn in line: fast strokes, fine vertical lines and slow marks running down the field. Choose by the movement you want in the room, because the fibre, the pile and the price are almost the same.
In short
- Velocity, Lyra and Trickle are hand tufted in New Zealand wool and Botanical Silk at 14 to 16 mm, so the wool gives the pile its body and the Botanical Silk adds a low sheen.
- Velocity is drawn in fast directional strokes, Lyra in fine vertical lines, and Trickle in marks that run slowly down the field, according to their Rugberry product pages.
- Velocity and Trickle cost ₹41,000 for 5x8 ft and ₹82,000 for 8x10 ft; Lyra costs ₹40,000 and ₹80,000, regular prices ex GST at the time of writing.
- All three suit living rooms and bedrooms with moderate footfall, and Rugberry lists all three in six sizes from 5x8 to 12x15 ft, or any size to order.
What do wool and Botanical Silk do together in one rug?
In a wool and Botanical Silk rug, the New Zealand wool forms the body of the pile and the Botanical Silk carries the light, so the design is drawn partly in colour and partly in sheen. The two fibres take dye differently, which makes the lines read even when they are close in tone.

New Zealand wool is a Terra grade fibre, Grade I in Rugberry's system, chosen for spring and resilience. It recovers after a footstep and holds a cut pile upright. Botanical Silk, a plant-based yarn, lies smoother and reflects along its length, so wherever it sits in the design the surface catches light.
That is why these three rugs change as you walk round them. From one side the Botanical Silk passages glow; from the other they settle back into the wool. Rugberry's guide to wool and Botanical Silk sets out each fibre on its own, and the glossary entry on wool and silk explains the blend.
How do Velocity, Lyra and Trickle differ?
Velocity, Lyra and Trickle differ in how the line moves: Velocity is quick and directional, Lyra is strung and upright, Trickle is slow and downward. The table compares them, with regular prices ex GST at the time of writing.
| Point | Velocity | Lyra | Trickle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Drawing | Fast directional strokes | Fine vertical lines across the field | Marks running slowly down the field |

| Reads as | Energy, direction, a room that moves | Rhythm and height, graphic but calm | Stillness, water or wood grain, the quietest of the three |
| Best room | Living rooms with a long axis | Bedrooms and studies with low furniture | Calm living rooms and bedrooms |
For a living room where the rug has to hold its own against a big sofa, choose Velocity over the other two, because directional strokes keep the eye moving across a large floor. For a bedroom where you want pattern without restlessness, choose Trickle.
Which rooms suit Velocity?
Velocity suits long living rooms and open plan spaces where the rug can point along the room, because its strokes have a clear direction that the eye follows. Laid with the strokes running away from the sofa, it makes a room feel longer.
In a typical Indian living room of 14x18 ft, a 9x12 ft Velocity under the seating leaves a walking margin of around 2 ft on each side and lets the strokes carry towards the balcony door. In a narrower room, turn the rug so the strokes run across it and the room reads wider instead.
Rugberry's product page lists Velocity as moderate in durability and not for pets, which fits a living room where shoes come off at the door. Velocity can be seen at the Noida Experiential Centre in 8x10 ft and at a partner store in 5x8 ft; the store locator lists both.
Where does Lyra work best?
Lyra works best in bedrooms, studies and rooms with low furniture, where its fine vertical lines give rhythm without crowding the floor. The lines are dark against a pale ground, so Lyra reads graphic, but the spacing keeps it calm.

Place Lyra so the lines run from the head of the bed towards the foot. In a 12x12 ft bedroom with a queen bed, a 6x9 ft Lyra laid crosswise under the lower two thirds of the bed shows about 2 ft of lined wool on each side, where your feet land in the morning.
In a study, a 5x8 ft Lyra under a desk works if the chair has glides rather than castors, because castors drag a cut pile. Lyra is shown in 5x8 ft at the Noida Experiential Centre and at a partner store. Rugberry's guide to study rugs covers chair and desk layouts in more detail.
The wool draws the line. The Botanical Silk decides when you see it.
Why choose Trickle for a quiet room?
Choose Trickle for a quiet room because its marks run slowly down the field in a soft, low contrast, so it reads closer to texture than to pattern from across the room. It is the calmest of the three and the easiest to pair with printed cushions or a strong artwork.

The marks recall wood grain or water running over stone, and they sit on an ivory and sand palette, according to the product tags. That makes Trickle an easy partner for teak, cane, and the oatmeal and linen sofas common in modern Indian homes.
On a pale marble floor, Trickle gives a gentle step in tone without a hard edge. On a warm wood floor it reads lighter and fresher. Rugberry's guide to texture and pattern explains why a low contrast design like this ages well in a family room.
How do you care for a wool and Botanical Silk rug?
Care for Velocity, Lyra and Trickle by vacuuming regularly on suction, blotting spills straight away and using professional cleaning only, which is the care note on all three product pages. The wool forgives more than the Botanical Silk, so treat the shiny passages gently.
- Vacuum. Twice a week in the direction of the pile, with the brush bar off or raised.
- Spills. Blot with a white cloth from the edge inward. Do not rub, because rubbing roughens the Botanical Silk.
- Water. Keep water off the Botanical Silk passages; they can lose their sheen if soaked.
- Sun. Rotate every six months, and draw a sheer during the strongest afternoon sun.
- Shedding. A new hand tufted rug sheds loose fibre for the first weeks. Regular vacuuming clears it.
Rugberry's guide to lighting and sheen shows how lamps and windows change a wool and Botanical Silk surface, which helps when deciding where the rug goes.
Which size, and how do you order one?
Order the size that lets at least the front legs of every seat rest on the rug: 8x10 ft for most living rooms, 9x12 ft for larger ones, and 6x9 ft for a bedroom. All three designs are listed in six standard sizes and in any size or colour to order.

At regular prices ex GST at the time of writing, Velocity and Trickle run from ₹41,000 for 5x8 ft through ₹82,000 for 8x10 ft and ₹1,11,000 for 9x12 ft. Lyra runs from ₹40,000 for 5x8 ft through ₹80,000 for 8x10 ft and ₹1,08,000 for 9x12 ft. GST is added at checkout.
A custom colour is the useful option here. Because the drawing is fixed, changing the ground or the line colour lets one design suit a different room.

How do they compare with other Rugberry wool and Botanical Silk rugs?
Velocity, Lyra and Trickle are the line drawn members of a larger family of Rugberry rugs that pair New Zealand wool with Botanical Silk. The others use the same two fibres to draw something different: a soft field, a single form, or a carved relief.

Cabella is hand tufted in the same fibres at 14 to 16 mm, but it is a quiet tonal rug with a low sheen that lifts as the light moves, offered in Flax, Frost, Latte and Mink. Choose Cabella if you want the sheen without any drawing at all. At ₹41,000 for 5x8 ft it costs the same as Velocity.
Insignia is handloom woven rather than hand tufted, and drawn with a single emblem at its centre. It suits a room arranged around one point, a round table or a square seating group, where the line rugs here suit long rooms with a direction. Rugberry's notes on Insignia cover it in depth.
Terraform goes the other way, using carving to cut a network of fine lines into the pile, so the drawing is felt as relief as well as seen. Rugberry's guide to Terraform explains that construction. Between them, these rugs let you choose how a line is made: by colour, by sheen or by depth.
Frequently asked questions
Are Velocity, Lyra and Trickle silk rugs?
Velocity, Lyra and Trickle are wool and Botanical Silk rugs, not pure silk. Each is hand tufted in New Zealand wool with Botanical Silk, a plant-based yarn that gives a low sheen, as their Rugberry product pages state.
How thick are the Velocity, Lyra and Trickle rugs?
All three have a pile of 14 to 16 mm, which is the standard hand tufted height across much of the Rugberry range. It feels soft and even underfoot while staying low enough for doors to clear it.
Which is the most subtle of the three designs?
Trickle is the most subtle, with marks that run slowly down an ivory and sand field in low contrast. Velocity is the most energetic, and Lyra sits between them with its fine vertical lines.
Are wool and Botanical Silk rugs good with pets?
Rugberry lists Velocity and Lyra as not pet friendly, because claws can catch the cut pile and Botanical Silk marks easily. For a home with dogs or cats, a low, closely woven wool rug such as Grain is the safer choice.
Can I order Velocity, Lyra or Trickle in a different colour?
Yes. Rugberry lists each of the three in any size and any colour to order, made to your measure. A custom colour keeps the same drawing and fibres while changing the ground or the line.
